
I had long heard that at the Chicago Don the Beachcomber the coat check didn’t take tips, but instead they suggested donating to various charities. I have pictures of the boxes labeled for those donations. The above picture has a Red Cross gal getting her share. What I now know is these were not cash donations it appears but the tokens known to me as “Akahi Dalas”.


These tokens have been selling for high dollars on eBay lately. From the images there must have been hundreds of them made. I had also assumed they were associated with the Hawaii location not Chicago.
This kinda stuff is gold! 🙂
